The Department of Materials Engineering was established in 1999 at the University of Technology in order to keep pace with the technological development taking place in the world of industry and the need for specialized engineering staff that can deal with engineering materials. It includes engineering branches which are general materials engineering, ceramics and building materials engineering, polymeric and petrochemical materials engineering, biological materials engineering and artificial offsets. The department awards master's and doctoral degrees in the field of general materials engineering, starting from the year 2002/2003. The study aims to prepare advanced staff capable of setting up mechanisms for manufacturing, designing and developing various engineering materials and choosing the suitability of these materials with work needs in addition to understanding the behaviors of different materials and following up on raw materials from the first stages to the final production.

The Department of Computer Engineering was established in 1997 to keep pace with the rapid developments taking place in the fields of information technology, computers and software industries, which have become a milestone in the economies of many developed countries and some developing countries. The department awards master's and doctoral degrees in computer engineering for the needs of government departments and institutions and the private sector.
